SHMTI and SHATI Hard Insulated Busbars

SHMTI (copper) and SHATI (aluminum), 1 kV and 10 kV classes, solid PVC insulation

Key features

1 kV and 10 kV Classes

Available with black PVC insulation (1 kV) and terracotta (10 kV). Test voltage up to 42 kV.

Copper and Aluminum

Solid busbars made of Cu-ETP (M1) copper or AD31t aluminum. Material selection tailored to the project.

Monolithic extrusion

Insulation is applied by continuous extrusion — stable thickness, high elasticity.

For stationary applications

Rigid construction for switchgear, busbar bridges and busways.

Where hard insulated busbars are used

Hard insulated busbars are used as part of switchgear, for its connection, and also in building budget-friendly busbar bridges and busways. They replace non-insulated busbars and cable assemblies, providing ready-made insulation and ease of installation.

Traditional approach

  • Non-insulated busbars — additional on-site insulation required, risk of breakdown
  • Cable assemblies — limitations in current loads and rigidity

METAENERGY solution

  • Ready-made monolithic PVC insulation with high electrical resistance
  • Stable thicknesses, high dielectric strength >20 kV/mm, easy installation

Voltage classes and insulation

Busbars are manufactured for 1 kV (SHMTI, SHATI) and for 10 kV (SHMTI-10, SHATI-10). Insulation — PVC: black for 1 kV (thickness 2±0.2 mm, test voltage 2.2 kV) and terracotta for 10 kV (thickness 4±0.2 mm, test voltage 42 kV).

Insulation is applied by continuous extrusion method, which ensures uniformity and elasticity. The safety margin exceeds the regulatory minimum — specific values are given in the technical specifications and product certificate.

Conductor Materials

Copper SHMTI busbars are manufactured from Cu-ETP (M1) copper per GOST 859 with a copper mass fraction of at least 99.9%. Aluminum SHATI busbars are made from AD31t alloy per GOST 15176.

Copper provides high conductivity (1.6 times higher than aluminum), mechanical strength, and oxidation resistance of contacts. Aluminum is attractive for its light weight, low cost, and high corrosion resistance.

Below are the main types of METAENERGY hard-insulated busbars.

Products

Hard-insulated busbars are supplied in copper and aluminum versions with 1 kV or 10 kV insulation.
