ShMP flexible busbars and KShM, KShA compensators

Custom geometry for installation conditions, manufactured to drawings

Key features

Full project customization

Custom manufacturing to individual dimensions, drawings, or specification sheets. Geometry precisely matches installation conditions.

Vibration and deformation damping

Flexible structure absorbs transformer vibrations and compensates for thermal expansion of busbar trunking.

High electrical conductivity

M1 copper with 99.9% Cu content in SHMP and KSHM; electrical-grade aluminum in KSHA. Minimal contact losses.

Easy installation and maintenance

Braided busbars tolerate misalignment, compensators provide stable contact surfaces. Reduced LV switchgear assembly time.

Flexible connections in power supply systems

Rigid connection of a transformer to busbar trunking or MDB creates risk of failure due to vibrations and thermal expansion. Flexible elements—SHMP braided busbars, KSHM copper compensators, and KSHA aluminum compensators—solve these challenges, ensuring reliable contact and long assembly service life.

Standard rigid solutions

  • Rigid copper or aluminum busbar—transmits vibrations and thermal stress to contacts.
  • Cable jumpers—require additional fasteners, labor-intensive in confined spaces.

METAENERGY Solution

  • SHMP — braided copper busbar with crimped connection pads, works in bending and torsion, dampens vibrations.
  • KSHM and KSHA compensators — solid contact zones (diffusion or argon welding), compensate thermal deformations, maintain stable clamping force.

Where and Why Flexible Busbars and Compensators Are Used

Main connection points include transformers, busbar trunking systems, and main distribution boards. Here it is essential to eliminate mechanical stress transfer and ensure compensation for thermal expansion of current-carrying parts.

When terminal alignment is off, in confined spaces, or when mounting planes do not match, the SHMP braided busbar allows connection without complex adapter structures. KSHM and KSHA compensators are indispensable in busbar routes where temperature cycles cause linear displacement.

Below are three product groups covering the full range of flexible current connection tasks in low-voltage and medium-voltage systems.

Products

Each series is manufactured to technical specifications and can be supplied with insulation, tinning, and in various configurations per customer drawings.

SHMP — braided copper busbar (bare and PVC-insulated up to 1 kV). KSHM — copper compensator with diffusion-welded plates. KSHA — aluminum compensator with argon welding.

Braided Copper Busbar SHMP (SHMPI)

series 82 (SHMP/SHMPI)

Braided Copper Busbar SHMP (SHMPI)

Flexible assembly of tinned copper conductors 0.2 mm thick, braided into a single bundle with crimped contact pads. For connecting transformers and busbar trunking in different planes, including misaligned axes.

  • High flexibility and vibration resistance — allows repeated bending and twisting without conductor damage.
  • Conductor: braided AMG-T wire, M0b copper (99.9% Cu), tinned pads.
  • Insulation optional: black PVC, 2±0.2 mm thick, test voltage 2.2 kV, dielectric strength >20 kV/mm.
  • Cross-section from 16 to 1,500 mm², developed length up to 10,000 mm, pad width 20–125 mm.

Designation: SHMP S/P L (pad1_length/pad2_length). Pads are crimped by default; adapter plates can be ordered for specific connection types.

Copper busbar compensator KSHM

series 83 (KSHM, KSHMI, KSHMl)

Copper busbar compensator KSHM

Set of copper plates from 0.2 mm thick, joined into a monolithic contact zone by diffusion welding. Solid copper contact pads ensure elasticity and stable clamping.

  • Monolithic pads without soldering or riveting — molecular bonding of plates; reduced contact resistance.
  • Compensates longitudinal thermal expansion, acting as an elastic element in busbar trunking lines.
  • M1 copper; available with insulation (I) and tinned pads (t).
  • Width up to 120 mm (up to 160 mm to order), thickness up to 10 mm (up to 20 mm to order), 8 standard configuration types per catalog + custom bends.

Article number structure: compensator type (1–9), thickness×width, length L, height h, radius r, pad lengths. Example: KSHM 4 10×120 L500 h65 r40 (120/120).

Aluminum busbar compensator KSHA

series 84 (KSHA, KSHAI, KSHAl)

Aluminum busbar compensator KSHA

Set of aluminum plates from 0.2 mm thick, argon-welded to aluminum contact pads. Effective thermal expansion compensation in aluminum busbar trunking systems.

  • 2 mm aluminum strip as plate base; pads made of aluminum busbar.
  • Argon welding ensures strong permanent connection without reducing conductivity.
  • Designed for connecting transformers to aluminum busbar trunking conductors and for busbar bridges in switchgear.
  • Standard width up to 120 mm, thickness up to 10 mm; manufactured in the same 8 configurations and per customer drawings.

Designation similar to KSHM: type, cross-section, length, height, radius and pads. Insulation (I) and tinning (t) of contact zones specified when required.

Sizes and selection

Standard catalog versions; non-standard cross-sections and dimensions manufactured per project. For KSHM and KSHA geometry is defined by questionnaire or drawing.
